The Deal
The dealer shuffles the deck and deals all 52 cards equally among the 4 players. Each player receives exactly 13 cards. You look at your hand but keep it hidden from your opponents.

The Call (Bidding)
Before any cards are played, each player looks at their hand and estimates how many "tricks" they think they can win. A "trick" is one single round where all 4 players put down one card.

Playing the Game (Taking Tricks)
The player sitting to the right of the dealer throws the first card face up in the center of the table. This sets the Leading Suit.
Who wins the trick?
The trick is won by the player who played the highest Spade. If no Spades were played, the trick is won by the player who played the highest card of the Leading Suit. The winner of the trick collects the cards and gets to lead the next trick. This continues until all 13 cards are played.
